Donegal Carpets

For over a century, Donegal Carpets has produced some of the world’s most exclusive hand-knotted carpets. Our work has graced establishments such as Dublin Castle, the Royal Pavilion at Brighton, Eltham Palace, and the U.S. White House. The name of Donegal has become synonymous with fine craftsmanship in carpet manufacture, and Donegal carpets have been a favoured choice of designers and architects worldwide for over one hundred years.

Donegal Carpets still creates exclusive bespoke carpets in the original factory at Killybegs. Now for the first time in our history, we are also producing hand-knotted carpets abroad. We are pleased to announce the introduction of our design collections, now available through design centers and retail galleries worldwide.  These carpets are RUGMARK-certified free of child labour and available in standard sizes (5x7/5x8, 6x9, 8x10, 9x12, and 10x14), with custom sizes and colours available.

The GuildCraft Voysey Collection features seven Arts & Crafts designs originally created by English architect C.F.A. Voysey. The designs are rendered in authentic period colours, which coordinate beautifully with original and reproduction fabrics, upholstery, and wallcoverings.  Hand-knotted in India of pure New Zealand wool, the GuildCraft carpets possess a uniform colour and surface texture. The look is authentic to the period, and our clients rave about the soft hand and plush quality of these carpets.

Our Arts & Crafts collection consists of four Voysey designs hand-knotted in India of Astrakhan wool, handspun to create slight colour variations (abrash) and a textural effect. The Arts & Crafts Collection carpets have a more traditional colour palette than the GuildCraft Collection.  As a general rule our Arts & Crafts Collection is preferred by traditional oriental carpet enthusiasts, and the GuildCraft carpets by Arts & Crafts specialists.

The Donegal Legacy collection features exclusive designs originally produced for clients ranging from the Prime Minister of England to Armagh Cathedral. Our meticulous attention to detail in both design and production is reflected in these dramatic new Donegal Carpets. Hand-knotted by Tibetan artisans, our Donegal Legacy carpets are fashioned with handspun Himalayan wool and a sophisticated colour palette, producing carpets with superb visual and tactile appeal.
